With A.I (Artificial intelligence), IoT (Internet of Things) and 5G (Network) coming to gather lives of the common man has become smart and easier. The flip side of this is that crimes have also increased. None of these technologies can guarantee or ensure that it is completely secure or protected. The combination has given rise to huge data explosions with increased vulnerabilities and thereby opening more opportunities for criminal attacks.

With most people/organizations moving out to cloud based computing systems, cyber criminals are also starting to target this space. Data breaches, criminal exploitation on cloud based computing has increased during the pandemic and will be the future target point as more data is available on cloud based space now.

Ransom ware or data encryption based attack has also become very common and random during the pandemic. Most of the time such exploited data is not used for data exploitation but is used as a method to collect huge moneys in exchange for returning the encrypted data to its rightful owners.

Posting fake websites which look very similar to the original websites and luring people to access such fake websites is another problem that has popped up in large numbers during the pandemic. Job offers, insurance and health perks, discounts on products commonly used, gift schemes, etc are used to psychologically lure people to access such fake websites and compel users to give away their personal and financial data.

Phishing messages, emails/calls are also used to lure innocent people to give away their personal and financial data like their bank account details, their bank card details, virtual ids and passwords, etc. The topics used to communicate such phishing can be advises related to pandemic, government announcement related to the pandemic, vaccination booking slots. RT PCR certificates, offers and gifts from reliable and trustworthy companies or organizations .
